Hi Alan,
Thanks for your message. I certainly
believe that insects communicate with
us. In fact I once had a butterfly
who was inadvertently caught under my
towel outside and as I laid down on the
towel I heard a tiny sound saying
"Help" This may sound strange.
Do they communicate in English?. Or was I
just hearing the cry and translating it.
In any case, I was so surprised to
hear this little human-sounding voice,
I immediately lifted the towel, saw
the butterfly and set it free.
Love, Joan

Congressman Kucinich Called for Butterfly Mural

of the Earth Proclamation and
sponsor of the Department of Peace initiative.
Alan
I thought you may find this of interest...I
spent the afternoon painting
doves and butterflies on a building (east
side of Cleveland, Ohio). Dennis
Kucinich called and asked if I would be
available to do it because the
original "grafitti mural" had the mayor
and some of the local residents
upset. He wanted to help restore PEACE
and felt this would be a good way.
Replace the grafitti with murals representing
PEACE. Yep, I like that :) Of
course I brought some rainbow pictures
along. Spoke with a lady who just
happened to be a color therapist that
was there. More on that later, she's
going to email me some stuff. The
man who owned the building we were
painting had several young children who
asked if they could help paint. I
handed out brushes, drew outlines of butterflies
for each to color in. When
we were done we blew glitter on parts
of the mural. And check this out...a
couple of motorcyclists pulled up while
we were painting and one asked me to
paint his initials and a BUTTERFLY on
his bike! Imagine that! Even some
disgruntled individuals left with a smile.
They reported this on the evening
news.
PEACE is GOOD! (doves are cool too)

Butterfly Update/New Directions
June 2, 2000
Dear Butterflies:
Perhaps some of you are wondering
what I have been up to and the direction
this project is taking. It
may seem somewhat chaotic, but out of chaos
comes all order.
There may be a lack in funding,
but there is no lack in interest and
energy. Our network is growing and
gathering interest.
I feel that we all need to
know who the players are so we can coordinate
better. I will send you all emails
on who the board members are. If each
board member takes on a small piece of
the puzzle -responsibility- things can
start to move forward. First and
foremost, we need a person to oversee
communications with the board and turn
us into a team with clear goals and
directions. That person would work
closely with me and report our progress.
I think I have been doing a good job bringing
people into the network and
reaching the public, but I am just too
overloaded to have the time to
integrate all the possibilities.
We are getting closer to having a business
plan. I have shifted my focus to
getting out a butterfly bereavement book
that I believe can help fund this
project and get our message out.
So if anyone can help with that it would be
very welcome. I will also send you
some of the stories that we will be using
so you can get some idea of that.
When all the stories are edited Tony
McGettigan will paste them up into a publ;ishable
form and add some artwork
and illustrations. Norie Huddle
will be writing the introduction. The book
will also include a message of what we
are trying to accomplish and that
proceeds will benefit the establishment
of Patch Adams or similar Centers
across the country.
As a published author I will be able to
bring our message to the public in a
more effective way and get into markets
usually reserved for authors only.
That includes radio, television, newspapers,
and lecture circuits. Since our
project is already making news, our book
will reach a wide audience and pave
the way to a more comprehensive second
edition. Our goal is to have a series
of books. Butterfly Soup for the
Soul perhaps but not quite. Since there
are so many butterfly and hummingbird
stories out there, there will be no
shortage of material and people will love
to participate in something that
will benefit humanity, especially children.
What we need to do now is to create a brochure
for the Patch Adams Centers.
I could use someone to help with that.
We also need a new vision statement
that encompasses the greater goals of
the project.
A New Vision
Statement of Purpose
The Butterfly Gardeners Association
and Patch Adams Centers
seeks to foster an appreciation of
butterflies, hummingbirds, dragonflies, and other
lifeforms. We emphasize the
need for conservation of natural habitats in our communities and
around the world. Our programs promote the installation of
butterfly gardens, children's environmental education, reading, and nonviolence
programs.
We link the stewardship of butterflies
with serious issues such as the misuse
and overuse of pesticides, global warming,
ozone depletion, habitat and
rainforest destruction, threats posed
by genetic engineered crops that
threaten butterflies and human health,
and the fostering of cultural and
biodiversity. Since butterflies
are loved by all and serve as environmental
indicators, they are excellent ambassadors
for raising environmental
consciousness.
Our Project Chrysalis will bring
performers, musicians, dancers, artists,
clowns, story tellers, puppeteers, and
mimes into hospitals, hospices,
schools, juvenile youth facilities, senior
centers and other institutions
that can use joy and healing entertainment
for adults as well as children.
We also plan to use other therapies
such as horticulture, drumming, healing
touch and massage, comedy, and theater
as
well. We believe that love and
caring can be powerful therapeutic
tools. Our presenters and volunteers
offer this through performance arts and
other means.
Our centers will carry out these goals
and work for world peace and a
sustainable planet by encouraging public
service and the building of vibrant
local communities.
Hope this has been helpful. Please
feel free to comment. I never feel that
your comments are not appreciated.
I even appreciate honest criticism, so
don't feel shy about speaking your truth.
Many warm thanks to Peggyy Zetler, Norie
Huddle, and Tony McGettigan for
encouraging me to get this all moving
just before my 55 birthday (June 7) and
the seventh anniversary of the project
which is on August 5-Hiroshima Day.
I want to also recognize Warren Linney
from Braodlink Communications and the
World Stewardship Institute for his most
generous and continued support for
this dream. He has been a special
angel to me. I would also like to
encourage those that have not yet contributed
to officially join the
Butterfly Gardeners to do so now, especially
the board members who can afford
to. Regular membership is just $25.
Whatever you can send will be very much
appreciated. Don't forget to make
it out to the Butterfly Gardeners
Association.
The Day I Visited Noetic Science
May 31, 2000
I have been in a cocoon ever
since the Nevada Test site. That was almost
two weeks ago.
For some reason something
was telling me it was time to go ahead with the
butterfly bereavement book. That
perhaps that was related to my cocooning.
Having little energy for that long a time
was becoming somewhat of a concern.
So yesterday morning I came out
of the chrysalis and began editing the
stories for the book. As soon as I did
things began to fly. I was soon to
get a wonderful confirmation and sign.
I decided to take a break
and went out to the butterfly garden to
reconnect myself to nature. There
were three gulf fritillaries flying around
and I offered them my finger. Two
came very close checking me out, flying
around me, and hovering within inches
of my finger. I have never had a
fritillary land on me before and thought
this would be the day. They didn't,
but before I could be disappointed, as
if that could really happen, two other
butterflies landed on me all within a
few moments and I felt wonderfully
alive again. They were skippers, a somewhat
difficult butterfly to interact
with as they are very flighty. It
was so magical.
I went inside and turned around
to find that one of them followed me
inside and was sitting there right in
front of me on the window. I have
lived her for almost three years and this
was a first. I offered it my finger
and it hopped on. I took it out
on the patio and it just stayed with me,
even as I brought it close to my eyes
so we could get a good look at one
another. I then placed my finger next
to my nose and it hopped on instead of
just flying away. I called to my
friend who arrived just in time to see the
butterfly still perched on my nose before
it flew off. Something told me
this would be a great day!
I went back in and finished some more stories and printed them out.
Later that afternoon I had
an appointment at the Institute of Noetic
Science which I had been eagerly awaiting
for almost two years. I took the
stories and headed to Sausalito.
My appointment was with Nora Lewis who is a
projects and research coordinator.
We spoke for almost an hour. At one
point I showed her a copy of a book by
Norie Huddle called Butterfly. Norie
is on our butterfly board. I began talking
about the imaginal cells theory
that Norie discusses in Butterfly.
She was the first author to write about
this as a metaphor for transformation.
When Nola flicked open the book she
had opened it up to the page on the imaginal
cells. A little bit of
Synchronicity there I thought to myself
She gave me a copy of IONS
Magazine to take with me. She said it had a
butterfly related story in it. When I
got home and read the magazine I found
an article entitled "What the Butterfly
Knows." There was a side-bar article
within it that was entitled "Wired for
Wings." It was the story of the
imaginal cells from Norie's book.
Now that is Synchronicity!
in peace, Alan
PS I was just outside, saw that same
butterfly, stuck out my finger, won't
say which one, and it came and landed
on me again. Am I on a roll or is it a
croissant?
PS Today, 6-1 and tested my luck
at butterfly calling. This time a female
and her male companion paid me a visit.
This was another first. Two
butterflies on my finger at the same time.
Three days in a row is also a
first.
PS. Today, 6-2 another hopped on
my hand from a leaf. Not quite the same as
a landing, put hitchhiking butterflies
are no less appreciated.

Story 1
April 2000
Dear Rosalind:
There are so many dear friends that have
prayed for the situation I have been
enduring. On March 5th my father
went home to be with the Lord. The cancer
rapidly took over his body when the doctors
took him off chemo in December.
I was able to spend the last week of his
life with him. He assured everyone
he was ready to go to heaven.
I had decided while staying with him that
I wanted to share at his funeral.
I was going to ask him if this would be
OK, but never got up the nerve to
talk about it. My Mom later gave
me permission. I wanted to share with
everyone about the card I had dedicated
to my dad. The scripture on the card
said, "Even though we once did estimate
Christ from a human viewpoint and as
a man, yet now we no longer know Him no
longer in terms of the flesh.
Therefore, if any person is in Christ,
he is a new creation altogether; the
old has passed away. Behold, the
fresh and new has come! We are reconciled
to God." -II Cor. 5:16-17-amplified version.
There was an illustration of a caterpillar
on the card with two butterflies.
My father had completed his process in
God. (When I tried to talk him out of
going, he said God told him to "Hurry
up")
On the way to his wake, I had to stop and
pick up my kids from school.
As I pulled into the parking lot I felt
compelled to park in a particular
spot...so I did. I opened my van
door to get out, and on the ground by my
foot lay a huge, beautiful butterfly,
perfectly intact and not trying to fly
away. I decided to bring it with
us and put it on dad's flowers later when
it dies. So the children and I rode
to Mississippi to the funeral home.
During the trip, the butterfly sat still,
but not lifeless. Its little legs
would move around, and sometimes his wings
would move up and down.
Later in the evening I asked my son Ben
to see if it had died, so I could
bring it inside to place on the flowers.
He brought it in, but it was still
alive, not trying to fly anywhere.
I placed it on the flowers after most of
the people had gone. The next day
it was the talk of the morning. It would
draw the nectar from the flowers and walk
around. I was able to share how my
dad completed his process...and how God
sent the butterfly to us.
The next week I was going somewhere with
my Mom and my daughters. I pulled
into a driveway and got out of the van
to check on something. On the ground
by the van door sat another butterfly.
I reached down and picked it right
up, showed it to my Mom and the girls,
then it flew away. (Butterflies are
NOT common in this area. It is rare
to ever find one.)
A couple of weeks later I came across the
card that I had dedicated to my
daddy. There were two butterflies
on the card with similar colors to those
God sent to us.
God is special. There are no coincidences in his kingdom.
I was able to bring myself to sort through
the things my father had given to
me by the end of March. One of the
items was an oriental bowl with beautiful
flowers on it, and also two butterflies.

My name is Chris and I lost my 2 year old
daughter last year on Easter. I
don't know why, but ever since then all
I see is butterflies. They are just
so beautiful. Anyway, I can't get
myself to her grave site, so I made a
garden for her in my backyard and I want
to have all the butterflies to come.
I bought a butterfly bath and certain
flowers that I hope will attract them.
Please tell me anything else that I may
do to help. What else can I do for
food or whatever. I would be so
grateful. I sit by her garden and all the
butterflies that come fly right by me
all the time. There are just no words
for it. Thank you. I loved your site

OK, I'm going to try to tell my story the
best I can, I'm not a writer, but
here it goes.
I'm a 28 year old female who was raising
my 2 year old daughter by myself. As
far as my beliefs go, there wasn't much
there. I would always say if I don't
see it in front of me, it does not exist.
I learned so much from my
daughter, but most of all after she passed
on Easter of 1999. For months I
sat there crying, wanting to know why
it happened. She was healthy and no
doctor could find anything wrong with
her. After months of crying and being
confused about everything, death for one,
I started to go to the library and
got tons of books on life-after-death
hoping to find answers. I really didn't
want to believe any of it, but I kept
reading.
The worse thing that bothered me is am
I doing wrong by not going to her
grave. I couldn't do it...so I decided
to make a garden in my backyard for
her where I could go dig by it, talk to
her and read my books.
While I was digging the garden a lady bug
sat on my leg. Now there was a
sign, I swear! First of all, it
wasn't ladybug season and Jazzie loved
ladybugs...talking about them all the
time...but this was like nothing I ever
saw before. It was bright yellow!
I was amazed. I didn't know what to do.
Now, meanwhile, my mother was camping up
north. She told me a yellow ladybug
landed on her. She never saw one
in that color before. You could say that
this was my first belief in life-after-death.
I just knew in my heart it was
Jazzie. No doubts!
Then I finished my garden with handmade
ladybugs in there for her and some
butterflies. As the garden got done,
I would sit out there by myself and
read every day. About 6 to 9 butterflies
were flying around me. I just
smiled. I read in one of my books
that butterflies are a symbol of
life-after-death, how we are cocoons,
and when we die we turn into
butterflies. I loved it! It
was the best thing I ever heard of. I want to
be with Jazzy soon and I guess it was
a sign for me it will be OK ,,,,,,
My whole aspect of life is different.
Not too much, but some. I have
learned how to pray. I learned to
listen, and I've seen some of my prayers
answered. I believe Jazzie is my
little butterfly. I even got two tattoos
of a butterfly with Jazzie on the bottom
of it. I love it and I am proud of
it. I'm proud of my daughter.
I believe now that soon I will be with my
girl. I am going to do my best to
keep the butterflies safer and coming.
They are sooooooooo beautiful, just like
my daughter is. I will enjoy my
garden so much this year and I want to
thank you for helping me get
information (on butterfly gardening).
I plan on taking pictures and putting
them on my web page so the whole world
can see how beautiful it is.

How Do We Unite to Make the Power of Art
More Salient?
Report by Butterfly Board Member Peggy
Zetler
Date: 05/16/2000
From: pzet@montana.com (Peggy
Zetler)
To: bflyspirit@aol.com (alan moore butterflies)
Artists feel the innate
directive to see light and hear energy then
present the power of their inspiration,
skill or knowledge. Through
aesthetic presentation ( written, performing,
material, and sound etc.) a
process of thought, known or unknown,
is released.
Quantum theory
seems to solve the riddle of the mind in relation to the
manifestation of the material world.
Quantum states that the entry of
information into the conscious of man
is the fundamental step in the
establishment of a reality. Science
advances from this same process as does
every other discipline or technology we
have manifested. Within the
complexity of the universe and our micro
creations here on earth we should be
amazed at our power given quantum reasoning.
Spiritual activists as well as
paranormal exeperiencers have long shared,
like artists, their tangible
experiences. They, like artists
and noetic venue scientists, have been
debunked sometimes harshly, but primarily
by devaluing; a form of subtle
disenfranchisement that asserts that the
value of their contribution to
tangible reality is esoteric or entertaining
at best and socially damaging at
worst. Separatists with domination
agendas fully comprehend the power of
expressive thought because they
have seen the power of its influence to
change the course of history regardless
of scientific or authorized validity.
In order for the world to flow to
their agenda it is imperative that they
confuse the masses, divide belief systems,
and promote indoctrination rather
than education. The power of the
arts to transform the world is threatening
in the extreme because if doers and experiencers
begin to seek, dig deeper
than what they have been taught, and unite
in the understanding that they
each are ³divine² and
able to utilize the magnanimous energy of the cosmos to
help create a better reality then
agendas disintegrate by attrition and a
new, unknown existence evolves that is
complex and magical putting each on a
common consciousness with peace, equitable
living, cooperation, eco-balance
and appreciation of connectedness.
Don Juan, speaking in
Carolos Castanedas last book, ³The Active Side of
Infinity² explains our two selves.
One is the product of all experiences, the
one that rarely speaks for it has been
defeated and relegated to obscurity.
The other is indoctrination or a foreign
installation. To resolve this
duality, awakened forces beckon intent.
Crafting, speaking, writing,
praying, saying, dancing, and thinking
intent must, however, come from the
abstract or ethereal. It is a place
where one trusts fully that the best
outcome will manifest even if the physical
domain does not boldly show us
such. Artists look deeper, feel
deeper, experience deeper. When inspiration
exudes from them it is often to the amazement
of even the artist. What most
often emerges is a symbolic/surreal type
of depiction of an ensplendored
planet most notably expressed with beauty.
Decades have passed
with artists and others bringing to the
conscienceness of many the need to heal
the planet...to be united with it,
not dominant or controlling of it.
A paradox of sorts has thus manifested
with the earth and all its living things,
man included, suffering and in need
of healing. Artists assert that visualizing,
depicting, sharing or
experiencing a perfect world has more
power to transform. Artist,
particularly in this time, have the power
to manifest a better reality by
actively visualizing and feeling a perfect
world. We cannot presume to know
what this is or that man will even be
a part of it. We must trust with
abstract intent that the manifestation
is best for all.
How do we unite to make
the power of art more salient? What do we do
here and now?
1 - Believe you are connected by special
predisposition with great powers
that are supported by the energy of the
cosmos or divine or both.
2 - Use intent to abstract a consciousness
of a perfect world. Learn and
practice all forms of self expansion toward
the necessity of being fully
awake and integrated. You will know
what information and actions are your
portal to tapping universal powers.
3 - Risk expressing inspiration that seems
to come through you magically.
There is no need to analyze what it is,
just know that it is as it should be
and that it is to be shared... to be given
as a positive force throughout.
4 - Encourage all in the same action.
Remember that thinking and feeling is
action. The effect and affect of
your expressions cause a thought and
feeling process within others and thus
more power is added to create the
perfect world.
5- Devalue all that is negative around
you by paying attention to only the
positive. Concentrate on not fighting
against. Work with that which is
preferred. Realize always that you
are positive.
6 - Be aware always to syncronisities of
opportunity. They abound in
communion with you. Give them appreciation,
attention and action not from a
selfish, foreign or separatist installation
but as a valued part of a greater
plan. Flow with the
energies that propel the only constant, change.
There is no failure if your intent is
based in universal love.
The select list of
artist like yourself that has found its way to me is
the beginning of a new awareness about
art and its magnanimous power. Soon,
introductions to participation will be
presented to you that you can align
with in whatever way seems right.
I will label these ideas of expression and
inclusion in your email as ³Art
Power² so that you will know the connection
of the information. The presentations
will arrive on inspiration rather than
any set cycle and will be as brief as
possible.
Thank you so much for
all you think, feel, craft and create. Look to
mother nature, the greatest artist of
all, for encouragement and confidence
in what you can do.

Alan:
Here is the section you wanted from my
manuscript. You can delete what I sent
before, since it did get revised. You
can use this as you wish. Any
suggestions welcome. I could expand still,
I could say more in Notes. But for
now--
Note should be made
of the butterfly movement* currently gaining in
popularity that draws together the developing
of an ecological awareness with
the realization that a dramatic shift
is about to take place in
consciousness. The inaugurating of the
"Butterfly Era" of global civilization
has been announced by Norie Huddle. And
butterflies are an excellent
symbol-and more-of the transformation
of consciousness, for the butterfly
undergoes its own dramatic transformation,
from caterpillar, to chrysalis, to
beautiful winged creature. Butterflies
appeal to children; they are a delight
to the eyes; they actually bring joy and
an uplifting of spirit to those who
are visited by them. There are numerous
stories of butterflies involved in
uncanny moments of synchronicity. Being
sensitive creatures, they are also
part of Nature's early warning system
that something is amiss. And so we can
look to our butterfly populations-the
Monarch has recently been threatened-as
an indicator of what we are losing.
But there is something
even deeper to the butterfly as symbol when we
find that in ancient Greece it had an
obscure association with Psyche. And so
let us consider this. The butterfly is
adept of the ways of the air; and so
is Psyche an adept of the ways of Air.
For the fitful butterfly flits from
flower to flower through airy spaces;
Psyche equally flits-shapeshifts-from
world to world through spaces of the Invisible.
The butterfly undergoes
transformation from sluggish, ground-based
creature to a delicate,
light-hearted being free in the open air;
and Psyche was once an Earthbound
mortal who was divinized and raised to
the status of Goddess. And, of course,
the butterfly is physically beautiful,
as was Psyche (in her early Venus
phase), but, then, more than that, Psyche
is the beauty of the invisible soul
become Soul/Spirit in union.
There is also the hypothetical
phenomenon out of chaos theory known as
the "butterfly effect." Since all things
are interconnected, it has been
speculated that the simple flutter of
a butterfly's wings could have untold
repercussions, for example, on the forming
of weather systems. Of course,
this could apply to anything, the butterfly
being the dainty and elegant
expression of it, for the flitting about
of a butterfly appears on the
surface to be so inconsequential. And
if each one of us is a butterfly? I
have shared my Vision of Psyche-this is
the flutter of my butterfly wings,
and even more so, when we consider their
connection. I believe that the
repercussions of this Vision will someday
be realized.
Notes
p. 83 The butterfly movement: One
of the principal activists behind it is
Alan Moore, director and founder of the
Butterfly Gardener's Association and Project Chrysalis; also
director of Authors for a Positive Millennium,
and tireless promoter of The Earth Proclamation. Also see Norie
Huddle, Butterfly.
The manuscript is 135 pages, titled The
New Age Vision. I hope that it will
be accepted as the definitive statement
on the New Age. I believe that it has
a fruitful future. I will need your
help in getting the word out. Whatever
help I
get will come back to whoever helps me.
I wrote this for all of us.
Yes, I would like to join on to Authors
for a Positive Millennium. What do I
need to do? Do I have to have my book
published first? At this point, I am
ready now to do any lecturing, guest appearances,
on the New Age Vision, and
whatever I can do to promote the butterfly
movement. I feel ready now to talk
about butterflies.
Have I not endorsed The Earth Proclamation?
I see my name nowhere in your
literature on the Web site. Does
it ever get updated? I no longer want to be
left out. I know you respect my poetic
work. Don't forget me. I know I've
been out of touch with nearly everyone.
I am struggling just to get by. My
time is limited. But I hold out hope that
it will change...someday soon...
May Peace Prevail on Earth,
