Woodstock Chain of Title

29th annual reunion of the Woodstock Nation
August 14-16, 1998

Thousands FREELY assembled for a Spirit-filled Woodstock
at Max Yasgur's Farm in Bethel, New York
up the road from the commercial concert at the Woodstock site
Thanks to owner, Roy Howard and his wife Jeryl Abramson!

That's the homestead of the late Max Yasgur, where the contract was signed with Woodstock Ventures to lease 200 of his 1100 acre farm for a concert.

Max's homestead was bought from Miriam Yasgur by Roy Howard in 1984.
His dream has been to use the property to create a museum and entertainment center in honour of Max Yasgur. Roy refurbished the barn in 1996 for indoor concerts. He had Jewel Eggink paint famous musicians, most of them Woodstock performers, on 14 windows and installed them in the barn.

The 200 acres which Woodstock Ventures leased for the concert, located on three corners of Hurd Road and West Shore Drive, became the site of the historic 1969 Woodstock Festival, and is now occupied by the town of Bethel and G F Entertainment. G F stands for Gerry Foundation, which was formed in December of 1997 to control the Woodstock site.

This August G F Entertainment entered into a contract with the town of Bethel's Bethel Local Development Corporation (BLDC) to hold a commercial concert and for the first time since 1969 erected a gate and charged money for a ticket.

See Ken Stone's photos
of the site from his parents' visit there July 4th.

Here's an earlier detailed report:

June 22, 1998 -  A stage area has been created at the historic 1969 site at Hurd Road and West Shore Drive.

A splitrail fence has been erected around the site with gates at the entrances. The dirt road on the site that was created by the public's use is now a cement driveway.

Tourists, pilgrims, and locals still visit the site daily but we don't know when that will be disrupted.

The Woodstock Nation Foundation will continue on the legal front to attempt to secure your right to continue to freely assemble there anytime.

That's the report up to now!

We need funds to accomplish our task.

(For some reason everyone thinks that the 500,000+ people who attended the Woodstock Festival in 1969 are going to come to the rescue... Maybe... someday soon.)

MEANWHILE...

FREE ASSEMBLY AT THE WOODSTOCK SITE IS GOING TO BE HISTORY INSTEAD OF REALITY
IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING QUICK!!!

This link will show you how
the Woodstock site
has been desecrated  with concrete.

Don't they care that this is a place where a mother spread her child's ashes
and many more have done the same? This is a sacred place to many.

Check out this report to see work area on the map.
